Cathy Keane Wind has performed with such great tap artists as Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, and is a student of the Maestro Lane Alexander. She is on staff at St. Paul Conservatory for the Arts, St. Cloud State University, and the University of Minnesota. She has won numerous choreography awards and her students have gone on to compete in the Miss America pageant as well as winners of state fairs and other national competitions. She is sought after as a master teacher, choreographer and performer.

Cathy is the co-artistic director of Keane Sense of Rhythm tap company. KSR has performed around the US, Canada, Europe and China, including performances with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Chicago Human Rhythm Project and Minneapolis and Thunder Bay Fringe Festivals. In 1997, Keane Sense of Rhythm started the Keane Sense of Rhythm Youth Tap Ensemble to give gifted rhythm-tap students a chance to explore different aspects of the art form.

Ellen Keane

Ellen Keane has danced professionally since 1981. She has appeared on the nationally syndicated show Dance Fever and toured nationally as the lead in The Muppet Babies Live. She has taught tap for universities and at dance schools around the Midwest. She is sought after as an instructor at music and dance festivals in the region. Ellen Keane is also listed on the MN roster of artists.

Choreography credits include dozens of musicals for metro area high schools, community and professional theaters and she has created award winning choreography for her students. Ellen is co-artistic director of Keane Sense of Rhythm tap company. KSR has performed at the Chicago and Mpls Human Rhythm Projects and was featured at the Mpls and Thunder Bay Fringe Festivals. The Company has performed in the Midwest, Canada, Europe and China. Ellen choreographed and performed in three seasons with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. In 1997, Keane Sense of Rhythm started the Keane Sense of Rhythm Youth Tap Ensemble to give gifted rhythm-tap students a chance to explore different aspects of the art form.

Shawn GliddenShawn Glidden started dancing with KSR in 1998. Her percussive dance career started with the Wild Goose Chase Cloggers, with whom she toured the Midwest United States, Canada and France. In addition to being a member of KSR she dances and plays fiddle with a traditional dance company, GIRLGERMS. In 2004 she toured England and Belgium as a fiddle player for Wild Goose Chase Cloggers.

Christian DeMarais is the newest member of Keane Sense of Rhythm (KSR). He began tap dancing at the age of three and was “discovered” by Cathy Wind. Christian is a charter member of the KSR Youth Tap Ensemble. A two-time winner of the MN State Fair Amateur Talent Contest, he has won multiple national dance titles including Mr. Showbiz, Mr, Starquest, American Dance Association Dancer of the Year and the Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s Director’s Choice Award.

He has performed with NYC Tap Kids, in the Chicago Human Rhythm Project JUBA Festival, and in the off-Broadway production of Mike Minery’s Slide. As part of the KSR International Touring Company, he taught and performed in Poland in 2006 and in Beijing, China in December 2007.

Christian has studied with many tap masters, including Lane Alexander, Dianne Walker, Gene Medler,Marc Mendoca, Jimmy Slyde, Savion Glover, Jason Samuels Smith and others. He teaches and choreographs for local dance studios as well as at Gustavus Adolphus College where he is a Theatre and Dance Major. His new movie, an independent film Health Freaks will premier in spring 2008.
